As part of the NFCS development leap support program, social worker Maria Belogortseva has started a internship, the aim of which is to learn and understand the role of a social worker in a rehabilitation center, as a result of the law and profession, with the purpose use the experience for benefit people in need.
The first part of the internship takes place in the Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation Center of the Viljandi Hospital, which is the only one of its kind in Estonia, offering a harm reduction service in Ida-Virumaa, a detoxification service in Viljandi, residental rehabilitation service for drug addicts in Viljandi and Sillamäe, and an re-entry service in Tallinn, Jõhvi and Narva. The second part of the internship includes specific work in Salvation Army and Living Israel rehabilitation centers.
In addition to the above, Public Foundation of Hope has received support from the NFCS project: “Cooperation of a network of NGOs to increase the competencies of rehabilitation work for alcohol and drug addicts and provide more effective help”, two one-day trainings have been held for members of the network, together with NFCS’s development expert Jaan Aps, we are developing cooperation with various agencies from the top of the organizations , incl. Unemployment Department, The National Institute for Health Development, Social Insurance Board and local governments. An important part of the project is also the creation of a competence center team, one of the supporting parts of which is the ongoing practice of a social worker.
