Rehabilitation Academy hosts seminar for addiction specialists
The Rehabilitation Academy for addiction specialists is an experience-counselling workshop based on best rehabilitation practices for specialists that was held from 9-11 October. It does not represent degree-level studies, but rather a transfer of knowledge and experience via seminars and personal guidance.
The first session of the academy was held in Aseri and involved 29 people from 12 different organisations. The programme included presentations by practitioners working with addicts at rehabilitation centres and an introduction to the basis, books and tools of the Dunklin Memorial Church rehabilitation programme. The Dunklin Memorial Church rehabilitation centre was established in 1962 as a shelter for the mental, emotional and physical recovery of addicts. The 10-month rehabilitation programme consists of five parts, each period supported by inspired study materials. Additionally, we visited the Uus Põlvkond rehabilitation centers in Jõhvi. On 11 October, Stanislav Solodov (Ministry of Justice) held a seminar in which we heard about and discussed cooperation opportunities for helping addicts.
The first session of the Rehabilitation Academy was held thanks to the support of SEMPRE and many other volunteers. Further seminars will be held in February 2019.
